Our Vineyard Update

July 25, 2008

After the severe spring frost in the Napa Valley and the hot/windy conditions during bloom, it looks as if our grape crop may be down about 30 percent from last year. Veraison (change in color of grape) seems to be right on schedule. Despite the weather issues, the vines are looking very healthy and our next step in the vineyard is to begin pulling leaves and thinning the crop where needed. Taking these two steps allows the vines to begin to prepare for harvest which should start in mid-October.
