2007 Harvest
November 14, 2007
Our 2007 harvest started the first week in October and finished up a few weeks later. After a mild spring, the vines were off to a great start. By mid June, when the days became warmer drip irrigation was started. A July heat wave caused some berry dehydration so water was increased slightly, until the grapes ripened and were reaching the high lievel of quality we desire. Our picking was completed about 2 weeks earlier than last year.
Our 2007 vintage will be the first vintage to include fruit from the vineyards of Bruce and Donna Dill and Steve and Lilia Gallion. We are very excited to be sourcing fruit from these two high-quality vineyards located in Calistoga. This will present us with different winemaking options, including blending or bottling these vineyards separately.
It is now almost mid-November and the grapes have been picked, fermented, pressed, and put into French oak barrels. The flavors and colors look very promising! It’s now time to take a breath, relax and give thanks for a very successful and enjoyable 2007 harvest!
